Dieting Tips For Meats When Dining Out
More Information About Dieting Tip on Meat While Dining
Ok, you are at your favorite restaurant and meat is on your mind. Wait! You are also trying to stick to your healthy diet plan. You want to eat a great meal, but you do not want to eat so much and gain all that weight back. Confused? Ok here are some dieting tips for meats when dining out.
- When ordering meat, have it broiled, roasted, or grilled. The idea there is to limit the number of fats added to the meat when cooking.
- Above all else, avoid having the meat fried. This is a big no, no.
- Instead of beef, order fish. Most fish have fewer calories than meat. Some, like wild caught salmon, are really good for you.
- If you are not having fish, then order a chicken dish. Again, watch how this is cooked! Do not order chicken that is fried! Use the above rules, either have the chicken baked, broiled, grilled, or braised.
- If you are set on ordering red meat, make this your absolutely last choice.
- Trim most of the fat off the meat.
- If a heavy sauce is part of that meal, request that either that it no be served, or served separately.
- Again, it is better to order either chicken or fish. They are lower in calories and fat.
Here is some information about some of the more popular cuts of red meat:
- Prime Rib: Most restaurants serve this in about one pound portions, which adds up to as many as 1,350 to 1,400 calories with more than a day's worth of saturated fat (up to 45 grams).
- Rib Eye: The rib eye is not much better. A 16-ounce rib eye contains about 1,100 calories and more than 20 grams of saturated fat.
- Sirloin and Filet: Your best betwould be a sirloin steak (about 700 calories for 12 ounces).
The above information should give you pause when ordering red meat. One way to compensate is see if there is a smaller portion served. For red, meat, the smaller, the better!
The above dieting tips for meats when dining out will help you keep to your healthy diet plan. But wait, you don't have a diet plan? Are you confused with all the different diet plans out there?
